Peter Bailey, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand

Peter Bailey from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says that ImpactECON’s work is cutting edge and their independence adds considerable credibility.

“The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contracted ImpactEcon for three major CGE trade modelling projects. The final product on each occasion was very high quality and delivered on or before time. Importantly for MFAT ImpactEcon’s international reputation and their independence adds considerable credibility to estimates. They are also at the cutting edge of trade modelling. In the latest project (economic implications of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership) ImpactEcon developed a new and significantly improved approach to modelling changes in goods’ non-tariff measures in part in response to concerns we had with traditional approaches. This was a considerable step forward in this aspect of trade modelling. Finally ImpactEcon has displayed a high degree of awareness and sensitivity to the political landscape we operate in. I have no hesitation in recommending ImpactEcon, and nor would I hesitant to employ them again for future trade modelling projects.”
