Working Paper 001: MyGTAP Data Program

Abstract

The standard GTAP model and database are organized around a single regional household, comprising both private households and government. The objective of the MyGTAP framework is to facilitate detailed analysis of multiple households and government, by separately identifying their income, expenditure and savings. The framework is especially useful when one is concerned with examining the distribution of policy impacts across differing households.

This working paper is the first of two papers that documents the MyGTAP framework. The paper provides detailed documentation and instructions for using the MyGTAP data program, a set of GEMPACK programs (Harrison and Pearson, 1996) designed to reorganize and customize the standard GTAP database. The program adds a number of additional sources of income, such as foreign aid, foreign income and transfers, and apportions income and expenditures across government and the newly defined households. The “My” in the program name reflects the fact that you, the user, define the extent of the customization of the “GTAP” database.
